Have you been using Chrome and noticed that no sound is playing when viewing a website like YouTube in Chrome? Try some of these tips that will most likely resolve the issue:
Double-check to make sure your mute button is not enabled on your computer.
If you’re running a web app that has audio control like Pandora or YouTube, make sure the app is not muted.
Make sure you have the latest version of Chrome installed.
Clear your cache and cookies.
View the same website in another browser like Opera or Firefox and see if sound plays. If sound still doesn’t play in other browsers, it may be an issue with your computer or device.
Windows users: Check your sound mixer or audio settings. It could be possible that you have Chrome only muted. Click on the speaker icon in your system tray and click “mixer.” If there is a muted icon under Chrome, click on the icon to un-mute Chrome.
Make sure your sound drivers are up-to-date.

Check for malware as unwanted programs can interfere with Chrome. Try our helpful Software Removal Tool to check for malware (Windows only).
Double check to make sure you don’t have any unfamiliar plugins installed on Chrome. Type chrome://plugins into your address bar and disable any sound related plugins.
If you’re using an antivirus or firewall software, make sure Chrome is trusted or allowed by these programs. You can also try temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall to see if this resolves the issue.
